David was born on December 6, 1952 in Balinger, Texas to the late Rowland Robert and Mary Jo Wright Allen. He graduated from Abilene High in 1971, before starting a career as a firefighter with the Sweetwater Fire Department for 4 years, and 21 years with the Midland Fire Department. After retiring he enjoyed riding Harley Davidson motorcycles, fixing and tinkering with things in his shop, driving his grandkids to school in the morning and spending time with his family.

David married his loving wife, Tawana (Martin) Allen, of Longview, on June 10, 1988 in Midland, she survives. He is also survived by his three daughters, Amber Stalvey and husband Damon of Stratford, Brandy Scott and husband William of Longview, Randi Allen of Longview; brother, Richard Allen and wife Betty of Anson; sister, Diane Partridge and husband Tobe of Midland; three grandchildren, Kaydyn Scott, Branson Scott, and Henry Stalvey.
