I had at least one class with Joan. She sat directly behind me and I still remember trying to block her from the teacher's view when she laid her head down on her desk to sleep. Linda Odstrcil (RIP) and I drove with Joan in driver's ed. I remember when Joan drove, that she almost went into a ditch. Linda and I were snickering in the back seat while the driver's ed teacher was yelling at her (can't remember the driver's ed teacher's name but he taught at AHS). I was very sad when I read an article in the Abilene newspaper back in I believe 1972 or 73 about her passing. She was a very sweet girl. RIP Joan.
